About the Talk
This talk will explore how mammoth DNA can be recovered and analyzed across the last million years, the main challenges involved in this process, and the significance of such research for understanding the evolution of both extinct and extant species. The presentation will focus on a recent scientific study that identified the oldest woolly mammoth in North America and provided new insights into how the genetic diversity of mammoths was shaped by past demographic and climatic changes.
