Polar Perspectives: International Polar Year Speaker Series and Youth Forum
November 30/December 1
In recognition of International Polar Year, free public lectures by prominent scientists, adventurers, filmmakers and leaders on Arctic issues are being held at 15 venues across Canada in 2008. Topics range from environmental impacts in the Arctic to the latest polar research discoveries.
The speaker series will help raise awareness about the Canadian Arctic, its peoples and northern issues. It will increase understanding of climate change, its impact on the polar regions and on the entire planet, as well as the mitigation and adaptation measures that are possible.
The Alliance of Natural History Museums, Students on Ice and the Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre are thrilled to announce the speaker series & student forum taking place this November.
November 30 - Evening Free Lecture: Speaker - Karsten Heuer, North Towards Meaning, 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30.
December 1 - Student Forum: We have space for 50 students in this full day educational program. Please call for more information.
