International Archaeology Day

Long Ago Yukon and the Yukon Interpretive Beringia Centre will be hosting a very special International Archaeology Day celebration, "Adventures in Discovering Our Past" on Saturday, October 15th at 11 am at the Beringia Centre.

This very special event will welcome archaeologist Marina Elliot, via Skype, to discuss the exciting discovery of a human ancestor.

Marina Elliot was part of a select team of uniquely-qualified archaeologists, capable of squeezing into the depths of the South African cave that contained the skeletal remains of a new species of hominin called Homo naledi.

Come find out how far some archaeologists are willing to go in order to shine more light on our human past.

Visitors will have a chance for a 30 minute Q&A with Marina after the presentation, followed by cake, and a 1pm showing of the movie, "Cave of Forgotten Dreams"

The movie, “Cave of Forgotten Dreams”, is another cave-based adventure. This documentary, by Werner Herzog, is a beautiful and rare cinematographic exploration of European cave art.

Please bring your own bagged lunch, as it will not be provided.

If you would like further information, please call the Beringia Centre at (867) 667-8855 or Michael at (867) 633-6579.
